I paid $16 and got a $16 haircut; she worked way too quickly, missed spots on the sides with the clippers, and cut my hair far too short. When you get your haircut by someone for the first time they typicaly cut conservatively and ask if you would like more taken off, this was not the case. The stylist seemed in too much of a hurry to go through that process. In the end what I got was a decent looking Caesar style cut, the problem was I didn't want, nor have I ever wanted a Caesar style cut. However, something tells me no matter what you want with this stylist at this salon, thats what you're going to get and if thats what you want then go here. However, if you're looking for something a little more sophisticated or specific, I suggest paying more money and going to a higher end salon or at least one more knowledgeable in men's cuts.

After moving from Massachusettes and leaving the only stylist I have ever know, I came to Columbia to go to USC. I was very nervous about having someone new do my hair and not only that but someone from the south since I am a northern girl. I read all the good reviews on Shear Xpectations and then decided to go for it. I had my highlights done and my hair cut by Jenny and it turned out fabulous. She was very nice and did exactly what i said I wanted. She listened to all my concerns and made sure I was satisfied. I would have to say I even like it better than when Connie did it. I loved the atmosphere in the salon and all the girls that worked there were very nice and made it an awesome experience. They are all pretty too. I would definately recommend this place. I give it a 10.

Shear Xpectations is a great salon if you are looking for great color & cuts. The staff make sure they stay up on the latest trends in styling, and they live the lifestyle, so they "get it". My stylist is Blair. She is GREAT!!! I always love my color and cut. And she is great to talk to......As is everyone there. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I have been to a lot of salons and this is the best, no question. Artana is a master of the salon arts. Her cut and color job is the best around. This salon is not the cheapest, but the quality of service given is well worth the price. I would not go anywhere else.

Pros: Ambience, Staff, Service, Quality

Cons: A little expensive, but worth it.

I recently moved to the South from Boston and have been looking for a good place to have my hair done. I've tried a few places and unfortunatley they ended up being too hokey and my highlights looked like everyone elses. A friend recommended Shear Xpectations and for the first time since I've been here I felt like I was in a real city! They were friendly, but not overly so. Very professional and finally some highlights that remind me of home. I'd recommend them to anyone, especially if you are used to living in a larger city.

f you are looking for a colorist, I recommend Blair. I recently moved to Columbia and was hesistant to try a new place after being with my hairdresser for over 5 years. I have tried pretty much every color and have come to have high expectations. Maria did exactly what I asked for and made it look very natural. She is very precise and has a lot of patience. Her experience shows.

Pros: Color, Great with Time, Friendly

Cons: NONE!!!

After moving away from Columbia, I've searched and searched for a comparable salon. Even in a bigger city, with many choices, there is none that compares to Shear Xpectations. The genuine concern for the client's well being and happiness shines through in everything they do. When going in I was seen by Blair. She cut and colored my hair. I LOVED IT!!!! She was a very sweet person and great to talk to. She attention to detail, timeless and trendy styles, and artistic abilities o help lead this whole salon to be one the best anywhere. Columbia is lucky to be home to Shear Xpectations!!!!

I frequently visit Shear Xpectations for various services. It's hard to say which stylist I love the most, because I trust all of them for my hair needs. Their nail techician, Sabra, is wonderful! And whenever I need a little something extra to make my day, I see their esthetician, Heather. This salon is fantastic! I highly recommend them to anyone and everyone!

Pros: Selection of products and services, staff is very professional

Cons: none!

I had a wonderfull experience at this salon. I have tried Logan Rayes, and Mane Image and were dissapointed with the hair cut along with the high price. This salon was affordable and Stacy (I highly recommend her) was an awesome stylist. She told me exactly what to expect. Stacy is definately the girl to have cut your hair!!!

Pros: Affordable, Quaility hair cut, great friendly staff

Cons: Long distance from Irmo, SC

Great salon if you are looking for color & cuts. Had my hair done by Blair and she was great. I loved my color!! She was very friendly and great to talk to!! Everyone in the salon was very nice!! Loved being there!
